About Pawmoon Studios

The mission of Pawmoon Studios is to create and share music that will stir people's hearts to grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ, the source of all life and light. Though most of my music is instrumental, I hope that as you browse through this website, you'll find the love of Christ somehow mysteriously embedded in what has been composed and that it might draw you closer to him.

My name is Eric Koenig. I was raised in a christian family. My mom was a music teacher and my dad was an electrical engineer. I was fortunate to inherit my mom's creative musical talent and my dad's analytical mind which made for many creative summers growing up. When I was not practicing an instrument, I was building lawnmower-powered hovercrafts, flying RC planes, and attempting to build a propane fueled rocket which was a very bad idea (do not augment with pure oxygen).

Having had a very conservative upbringing, I was highly discouraged from listening to any mainstream pop or rock.  After all, music with a "beat" must be of the devil, right? So while other kids were listening to Michael Jackson and Van Halen, I grew up listening to Beethoven and John Williams. I was five when Star Wars (IV) came out and I instantly developed a deep appreciation for film scores which I have been collecting ever since and which have significantly influenced my composing style. By the middle of high school, I had saved up enough to buy my first synthesizer, MIDI interface, and a DOS based sequencer. These were the first of many studio equipment acquisitions which snowballed into an obsessive hobby. Though writing music truly made me come alive, I was aware just how saturated the market was with gifted but starving musicians. So as high school came to a close, I chose to pursue engineering.

Through college, I managed to acquire more gear, and crank out more music to impress the chicks - one of whom married me. Decades later, I put food on the table for my wife and three daughters working as a mechanical engineer for a major gas turbine engine company. The career has been very rewarding but music has always remained a passion. So when I can, I still steal away to my cave and churn out a few pieces each year. But with age and a deepening walk with Christ, my motive for writing has shifted profoundly from merely personal enjoyment to a deep desire to create beauty that points others to Heaven and its creator. Though most of my music is instrumental, I hope that as you browse through this website, you'll find the love of Christ somehow mysteriously embedded in what has been composed and that it might draw you closer to him.
